Frequently Asked Questions

How do Groups help?

Support groups are all about helping teens and young women build a strong foundation for their future by building a stronger relationship to themselves. Groups are interpersonal and growth-oriented. Group therapy help us to increase awareness, build self-compassion, better manage thoughts and emotions, communicate authentically, and reach goals through intentional action.

Who is a right fit for group?

Girl Hangs are beneficial for a wide range of young women ages 11-25+. We welcome all backgrounds and are LGBTQ+ affirmative. Eligibility typically includes:

✅ High-Functioning Individuals – Individuals who can manage daily activities (school, social life, responsibilities) but may need support with stress, relationships, or emotional growth.

✅ Willing to Participate – Groups are most effective when participants are open to the process and willing to engage in discussions and activities.

✅ Mild to Moderate Concerns – Young women dealing with anxiety, comparison, self-esteem issues, relational issues, social struggles, academic stress, or family conflicts can benefit from group.

✅ Supportive Environment – Having parental support or a willingness to communicate with caregivers can enhance group outcomes.

❌ Not Ideal for individuals with Severe Mental Health Crises – Those experiencing active suicidal ideation, severe substance abuse, psychosis, or conditions that may require more intensive care.

How much does the group cost?

Consistency is what makes group so magical. Groups are a monthly commitment of $150. I have a few sliding fee spots available. We meet the same time each week for 4 weeks. Themed topics build on each other and are unique each week, so girls can continue coming for additional months.

Two or more months are recommended for the greatest benefit. Groups often run for many months as girls often want to keep coming back.

What happens in the Groups?

Small Group Setting – Typically, 6–10 women with similar challenges (e.g., anxiety, social skills, self-esteem, relationship struggle, etc.)

✅ Confidential & Safe Environment – Everything shared is kept private, creating a safe place for open discussions.

✅ Structured Sessions – Each session follows a format that may include:

  • Check-ins – Girls share how they’re feeling and what is coming up.

  • Guided Topics – Discussions on emotions, relationships, coping strategies, and self-awareness.

  • Skill-Building Activities – Exercises to improve communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.

  • Group Sharing & Feedback – A chance to support and learn from each other’s experiences.

✅ Interactive & Engaging – Sessions may include role-playing, mindfulness exercises, art activities, or journaling.

✅ Encourages Growth – Women build confidence and a stronger sense of self, try on skills, and develop healthy coping mechanisms in a judgment-free space.

Group Hangs can be a great option for girls who want peer support while working on personal challenges. If you're considering it, please contact we so we can determine if it's the right fit!

Length and location of group?

Groups are a monthly commitment and run for 4 consecutive weeks and are 1.5 hrs long. We meet once per week in a designated location in Ventura and Santa Barbara, CA. Groups are typically held on weeknight or Sunday afternoons. Our groups are held inside a retrofitted school bus and are a very cozy and unique experience.

What If I don't see a group for my age?

We have rotating groups and are always looking to expand our offerings to more age groups and locations. Please let me know if there is an offering you would like!
